Welcome to Maryland Sea Grant's channel. For more than 35 years, Maryland Sea Grant has been a dedicated leader in efforts to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland's coastal resources. Drawing on the talent and expertise of the state's universities and academic laboratories, we foster innovative marine research, education, and outreach.
One of our major outreach efforts is film -- we have produced several award-winning documentaries about the complex issues facing the Chesapeake. They have been shown locally, at film festivals, and on public television.
Our short, online videos offer brief glimpses into the lives of those in the tidewater region -- scientists and citizens, watermen and Bay pilots, environmentalists and educators. We also have educational videos for building rain gardens and for seafood safety training.

Thank you!
aI grew up as a crabber, I just want the bay to go back to normal. I don't want anything more then this.
Goldie told me, he could see an oyster in 10' of water. Can I get a job with you? I am a waterman. It would be my lifes Honor to restore the bay.
Deep fried is the only way
NOAA lies! They post that the Greenland ice sheet holds the equivalent of 7.4 meters of sea level rise, but the math says it would only cover 1/64000 of the surface with 1 ft of water. That is a major discrepency using their own data.
Very well explained . Thank you very much
With tears of joy, I watch this precious piece of my history. Thank you for capturing the joys of my community. God blessings upon all.❤❤
I really feel bad for the people that grew up there, as kids. Lots of memories the kids of today won't get to have. New times, new memories, I understand. Looking for bottles and different treasures etc. Just looks like a fun place to have been as a kid.
Cousin Casey was great in the video.
FEMA HOWS YOUR ORGANIZED FELONY GANGSTALKING PROGRAM GOING 😂
watermen are being priced out of places like Deal Island, Tilghman Island, Talbot County and Kent Island, million dollar houses are being built on these islands that were once dominated by seafood
films about lost communities are very important
Does anyone know if they ship to a grocery store in Los Angeles?
Has anyone done this kind of research on Guinea in Gloucester VA?
Yes, there are a couple great videos on youtube, and an amazing documentary on PBS called (They Live in Guinea)

You guys are awesome as always. Your number 1 fan from Malagash, North Scotia. :)
My Grandfather was from Deal Island and I went crabbing with him many times at 5 -7 yrs. Old name was Captain Zack Taylor Wenona md.I lived with him from 2 to 7 yrs. Old as my mom was run over by freight train off rat. 50.
Heđlo
Big respect for the Harbor Pilots
1 or 2 k per acre yike
Is the City of Cristfield still operating in 2022
Tribute to my brother who recently retired from the Maryland Pilots.Great job& great career skipper!Love ya bro!
Probably corporate engineered.
The only way aquaculture will ever compete with the wild oyster harvest is if the government continues to take from working waterman .
Sir, i am filipino student studying Bachelor of science in fisheries, may I know if you have any photo of the plant-layout draft of the crab meat freezer?
My brother is a pilot on the Chesapeake
its a hella tough job bieng a watermen, but we love it.
The only job I've ever loved. Would have been a third generation watermen in VA
Now it’s a place for wealthy yuppies and $12 shitty crab soup.
The sea isn't rising Dorchester county is sinking.... no evidence of sea level rise on DE side of the penninsula
Very informative channel. Thank you for sharing.
What is injected
Chorulon = human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). The Chorulon product insert indicates the dose....typically 330 IU/kg for females and 165 IU/kg for males.

Nice lesson
Does anyone know if they have solved the toxin puzzle with this microbe?
It DISAPPEARED!!!
Haha 😄. How convenient!
Used to visit Island No2 for a few weeks each summer when I was a kid. We had a great time crabbing on the Honga River and always caught more than we could eat. The rest just got picked down for crab meat. You could always expect Mr Roamie to stop by for a chat and a good story about how it "used to be" in the old days. I loved the tiny post office and the general store. We must have bought every cream cycle they had in stock. Used to get salted eel for our trot line from Ripon Brothers crab house for next to nothing. Now they cost $3.00 each if you can even find them. I was amazed by how fast the ladies at the picking houses could go through a table full of crab. It was a golden time in my childhood, and I'll never forget how nice everyone on the island was to us. I hope your new aquaculture does well for you. That 's a shame that the other islands are going the way of island number 3. You folks deserve better than that. I'll be praying for you, and your way of life. It's something special that the world doesn't even know the value of.
where do you purchase the wire mesh from? Thanks
My 5x great grandfather Joseph Webster (1670-1698) was born on Deal Island. His parents William and Hannah(Berry) were born in St John Parish.
Where is St John Parish?
I am glad to still be able to see my Grandfather. And hear his voice!
Where is the damn Gold
Very very nice video sharing 👍
2020: Please don't use Styrofoam blocks to float river cages. That equals just pouring small plastic bits into a river. Use a solid flotation device of some kind.
So sad that such a pretty Island disappeared because of us :( the homes looked so pretty real shame history like this place is just swept away
What are all those machines being for water quality measurement called?
